Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child has been named 'The Best Guitar Riff Of All Time' in an online music poll.

Late guitar guru Hendrix, who topped the singles chart with the track in 1970, triumphed in a poll of musicians.

The track - full title Voodoo Child (Slight Return) - edged past Guns N'Roses song Sweet Child O'Mine which finished second in the poll by musicians' website MusicRadar.com.

MusicRadar editor-in-chief Mike Goldsmith said that the survey indicated Hendrix is the undisputed rock guitar champion.

"Whenever we've done stories like this, we always get a great response - it's the ultimate pub conversation," Sky News quoted him as saying.

"Everyone's got an opinion. We got just shy of 5,000 response via email, Twitter and Facebook.

"It's quite pointed that classic rock is still the big thing. This is just good music.

"You can see the influence of these types of people on say, Jack White, who's just everywhere - releasing new albums or setting up record companies," he added.
